Demons – Imagine Dragons

A simple pattern over our oh so beloved four-chord progression creates this atmospheric keyboard part.

Sounds pretty good on a piano too (of course!) and for it’s lack of over-complication and too many notes is a nice one for all of you that are exploring and learning the key of Eb and a few of it’s more important chords.

Adding some fairly simple extensions to each chord and putting them to work in a broken-up pattern shows just how easy it can be to both create, play and remember a nice piano part.

Remember how in last post I told you about the ‘trick’ to loop a certain riff-part over different changing harmonies? Recognize that going on here as well?

Lastly, in this lesson I take it from showing you the basic chords, to a stripped-down easier version of the actual part and going all the way up to putting ‘filling-up’ techniques to create a very full piano part, all using the might of the chords and techniques of Pop-Piano. Course followers will recognize this from later chapters of Hack the Piano.

Have fun!

Cheers, Coen
